The series finale is scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT first pitch on Monday, airing on the SEC Network.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama faced a tough defeat in Sunday’s game two against Florida, losing 11-2 in five innings as the Gators secured the weekend series.

Similar to the first game, Alabama (19-3, 0-2 SEC) found themselves trailing early after Florida (21-3, 2-0 SEC) scored two unearned runs in the first inning. The Gators added another run in the top of the third with an RBI single. Trailing 3-0, the Crimson Tide loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the third. A ground ball to the right side saw the Florida second baseman miss the tag attempt, resulting in a run and keeping the bases loaded. With the bases loaded and one out, another run scored on an RBI groundout before a flyout ended the inning, leaving Alabama behind by one.

Gator pitcher Ava Brown contributed to her team’s lead with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. Florida extended their lead in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on five hits and three Tide errors, bringing the score to 11-2, which remained final after five innings. Jaala Torrence (7-2) took the loss for the Tide in the circle, exiting after 2.0 innings.

Head Coach Patrick Murphy commented, “We got in our heads. When you’re struggling on defense, the ball always continues to find that one person. It’s like a magnet. Unfortunately, that was just an ugly game. That kind of game happens across all sports and tonight was ours.”
