AIR JORDAN 1 – ALL THE HISTORY OF THE LEGENDARY SHOE LINE

For true Sneakerheads, no one is unfamiliar with Nike’s legendary basketball shoe line, the Air Jordan 1.

First launched in 1985 (in some other information sites, 1984) with a design dedicated to basketball superstar Michael Jordan, forming a separate division of Nike called ‘Jordan Brand’ and also officially opening the era of modern Sneaker covering the world fashion industry.

Many people will think that Jordan Brand’s first design is the legendary Chicago Bull color scheme with three typical colors “red, black, white”, but the first color scheme designed by Peter Moore only includes 2 colors. The main theme is “red, black” (Bred) according to the colors of the Chicago Bull team’s jersey. However, the design was quickly rejected by the NBA board chairman because he thought the shoe design had too little white (according to NBA rules, shoes must have white as the main color).

However, MJ still wore the shoes to compete and accepted a fine of $5,000 paid entirely by Nike because this amount was insignificant compared to the Marketing effect it could bring to the company. And MJ, along with this first design, won the first Rookie of the Year title in his career.

Nike then added the Chicago Bull color scheme with the three main colors ‘white/black/red’ and MJ wore this color scheme in most of his matches during the 1985-1986 season.

To date, Air Jordan has developed continuously with hundreds of thousands of different color combinations, along with famous Collapsible versions that always cause fever among the Sneaker-loving community around the world.
